Mount Taishan is well known as the “First of the Five Sacred Mountains in China with its main peak rising 1,545 meters above sea level. It is lying in central Shandong Province. Its reputation mainly comes from its cultural position. The historical records concerned shows that Mount Taishan became a sacred place frequented by successive emperors to offer sacrifices and meditate in the Zhou Dynasty over 1,000 years well before the Christian era! It is recored that 72 emperors visited it. Men of letters also came to get inspiration, to write poems, compose essays, paint pictures. So Mt. Taishan has a great many cultural relics left. Mount Taishan was listed part of the world cultural heritage list in 1987.

Qufu was the hometown of Confucius (551-479 B.C.), the famous thinker, philosopher and educator of the Spring and Autumn Period. He has exertes great impact on China for past twenty-five centuries. Qufu is well known for the Temple of Confucius (Kongmiao), Confucius Mansion (Kongfu), and Forest of Confucius (Konglin).
