Jiuzhaigou, literally meaning"Nine-Village Valley"- the home of nine Tibetan villages. It is located in the depths of the mountains in the border area of Nanping, Songpan and Pingwu counties in Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of northwestern Sichuan Province.

The valley is about 50 kilometers in length. The place boasts over 100 fantastic lakes, which are quite different from others by having a high concentration of calcium carbonate. So it has the lakebeds and embankments which are all covered with crystals. You can see through the water depths of several dozen meters due to its clear water. Waterfalls are also teh highlight of the scenery in Jiuzhaigou. They are formed between lakes on different levels of water flowing down the cliffs with trees. The thick and shady trees block the sunlight. It is a fairyland! In 1992, UNESCO listed this scenic area into the world natural heritage list.
