Tour Testimonials |
Dear Reina,
Back in Brussels from our most enjoyable China trip, we want to express our most sincere appreciation for the excellent organisation of our tour by your company.
When we submitted to you our fairly complex tour programme, covering a large chunk of North-East China to be visited over a four weeks" period, we were somewhat apprehensive as to whether everything we wanted to do could be done the way we wanted it, without major problems coming up along the way. As it happens, our entire trip went extremely smoothly, without any unpleasant surprises whatsoever.
The guides we had were all without exception competent in their fields, with a good to excellent command of English and a limitless goodwill to do everything necessary to make our journey a success, perhaps none more so than Lynn, our Beijing and Chengde guide, who accompanied our first steps in China with great charm and devotion.
Our hotels were all of appropriate 4-star standard, some in our opinion even coming close to 5-star standard, with the sole exception of the Huang Shan mountain hotel, which we had of course chosen ourselves. Although it claimed 4-star standard, it was clearly well below its official rating. We had to stay in a room with badly used-up mattresses, with mattress springs sticking out, and a dilapidated bathroom. In addition, breakfast & dinner were of poor quality. We would probably have done better staying in the Beihai Binguan Hotel, also situated in the Summit Area.
To complete the otherwise positive picture: Our four train journeys, in the Soft Seat and Soft Sleeper Class turned out to be quite comfortable, as did of course our internal flights. And last, but not least, we enjoyed good to excellent meals throughout the trip, in the restaurants chosen by our guides.
We were, of course, duly impressed by what we saw in China: the splendid temples and other Heritage sites, the museums, the gardens, the Great Wall, etc. But we were no less impressed by the more modern achievements of your country: the superb road network, the big cities with their endless rows of high-rise buildings, the giant shopping malls, etc.,etc. But more down to earth, we were also impressed by the high standard of the various shows we saw in different places we visited: Peking Opera, Tang Dynasty Show, Acrobatic Show, to mention but the most important ones.
We intend to come back next year, in Spring, to visit South China. Once again with the help of Xinhua Tours ? ?
With our thanks, we remain, with best regards,
Janet & Kurt Eggert, Brussels
