About an hour"s away from Shanghai by train, Suzhou is a well-known historical and cultural city, as well as a key scenic tourist one, and a coastal economic opening area. Suzhou has been praised as “a paradise on earth" since ancient times. Streets and alleys in Suzhou extend side by side with canals, small bridges and flowing waters. The humble administrator"s Garden in the city is the largest of its kind in the region. Suzhou is one of the Chinese four major gardens and a master piece of the private classic garden. Suzhou is included in the UDFSCO world heritage list in 1997.

Lingering Garden
Lingering Garden is the best preserved among all the Suzhou gardens. It is also one of the four most famous gardens in China. The Lingering garden was recorded on the list of the world heritage in 1997.
Located at the outside of Changmen Gate, the Lingering Garden was built in 1460. The Lingering Garden is exceptionally beautiful. The whole garden is filled with small hills, caves, rockeries, paths and pavilions. Entering the garden, you will be first greeted with the sounds of Chinese traditional instruments: pipa, er"hu and sanxian. There are music performances in many places of the Lingering Garden which make the garden come alive.
The Lingering Garden can be divided into four parts according to the style of the structures: the central, eastern, western and northern parts. Of the four parts, the central part is the essence of the whole garden.

The Humble Administrator"s Garden
The Humble Administrator"s Garden (or Zhuozheng Yuan) is one of the four classical gardens in Suzhou. First laid out in 1509 AD, Located in the northeastern part of Suzhou city.
Covering 51,950 square meters, the Humble Administrator"s Garden is the largest of all classical gardens in Suzhou. The Humble Administrator"s Garden can be divided into three relatively separate sections: eastern section, central section and western section. The central section is the essential of the whole garden. There is a pool in the center which occupies 60 percent of the central section. The eastern section is dotted with hills, streams, grasses, etc. The main attraction in the Western part is Thirty-Six Mandarin Duck Hall.
The whole arrangement of the Humble Administrator"s Garden is elegant and natural. All the beautiful spots make the Humble Administrator"s Garden to be the first one of the four classical gardens in China. You can"t miss it.

Panmen Gate
Panmen Gate is Suzhou"s oldest and the most completely preserved part of the ruins of the ancient city of Suzhou. It has a long history of more than 2 500 years.
Panmen Gate is situated at southwestern corner of Suzhou. The Panmen Gate has been renovated and rebuilt many times through the ages. The Panmen Gate is large and nice. There is a pagoda here which was built in the North Song Dynasty.
In recent years, the Panmen Gate becomes a famous tourist attraction in Suzhou. There are many pavilions, gardens and ponds scattered throughout the area. It is a very wonderful place to relax.

The Tiger Hill
Tiger Hill, also known as Surging Sea Hill, is a large hillock covering some14100 square meters (over three acres) and is 36 meters (118 feet) in height. A great poet in Song Dynasty named Su Dongpo once praised the Tiger Hill “it is a great pity to come to Suzhou without visiting Tiger Hill".
There are many attractions around Tiger Hill: Pagoda of the Cloud-Rock Temple, Second Hill Gate, Sword Lake, etc.
The best time to go to Tiger Hill is in spring and autumn.
