Shanghai Grand Theater
Shanghai Grand Theater is in the north east of the People”s Square; south to Renming Da Dao Road, west to HuangPi Road, and east to Civicism Building. It covers an area of 70000 square meters with ten stories (divided in to 2 basement floors, 6 floors, and top 2 floors). Shanghai Grand Theater is designed French architect Jean-Marie Charpentier like a crystal palace. It is the best theater in China and the biggest in Asia and also one of the most advanced in the world. Its rooftop in the shape of a white arc with four angles pointed to the air has two show halls— classical open air odeum and air garden. There are three playhouses: main house with 1800 seats, medium house with 600 seats and small house with 200 seats.

Shanghai Oriental Art Center
People can also take this place as sightseeing special at night. Like a magic work and opposite the Town Hall this building is bright and transparent. Designed by famous Paris architect- Paul Andreu, it is a blossom flower located in the center of Pudong New Area. When at night you will see a huge shining butterfly that is the Shanghai Oriental Art Center. This hall is composed by five segments containing main entrance, a concert hall, an opera house, an auditorium and an exhibition space. It is an art center and itself is a great art work also. Each weekend Shanghai Symphony performs there. With the feeling of precious and mysterious, solemn and joyous people can not help entering it. Shanghai Yue Ju (Yue Opera) Theater
Yue Ju (Yue Opera) is a kind of relatively new drama in southern regions of Yangtze River and is popular in cities such as Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Fujian. It was derived from a kind of story-singing and with a history of 800 years. In order to express emotion the tunes are sweet and beautiful and the performance is vivid and full of local color. Shanghai Yue Opera Theater established in 1955 was made up by two troupes. For many years this theater produced four typical magnum opuses including,《Xi Xiang Ji》,《Hong Lou Meng》, and《Xiang Lin Sao》. 《Liangshanbo Yu zhuyingtai》is the story of Chinese Romeo and Julia as the first color film in China was awarded “Musical Film” in the International Eighth Filmfest in Czechoslovakia. Besides during 80es, it created many good plays including lots of Chinese and western literature masterpieces. It had performed in German, Russia, Vietnam, Japan, France, Thailand, America, Holland, Singapore, Korea, Belgium, and Luxemburg.

Tian Chan Yi Fu Theater
(Peking Opera Center)
Yi Fu Theater as the oldest and biggest Peking Opera center in Shanghai was built in 1925. It is derived from Tian Chan Theater in 1916 which has a more long history. If you are after Peking Opera in Shanghai, you must go to Yi Fu Theater. From 1989 Yi Fu Theater is under the jurisdiction of ShangHai Peking Opera Theater and was once had the Peking Opera performance of 300 times. It is always assembles famous drama troupes from both mainland, Hong Kong and Tai Wan. The Performance there in night also includes acrobatics, Gong Fu, and other operas. Yi Fu Theater is a bewitching venue for cultural show.

Lyceum Theatre
Lyceum Theater is one of the oldest theaters in Shanghai which was founded in 1866. It was rebuilt in 1931 and from that time there are 60 years. It was once served as the get-together place for consuls and celebs from all circles. This classic European style theater hosts performances including Chinese operas, dramas, acrobatics & circus, children & family theaters, ballet and so on. The transportation there is very convenient as it is in the crossing of two famous roads in Shanghai—Maoming Rd and Changle Rd. Many famous hotels are next to this theater such as Garden Hotel Shanghai, Jinjiang Hotel, and the Jinjiang Tower.

Majestic Theatre
Majestic Theater is a building combined modern and classic styles. At the beginning of the establishment, it was the regarded as the “No.1 Theater in Asia” and “the most updated theater of Shanghai”. The most famous Beijng Opera maestro-Mei Lanfang and world famous ballet dancer Galina Ulanova had performances there. There are a diverse range of performances including Chinese opera, drama, ballet, song, and local dance. Actors are from China and other continent. This theater brings people world culture and friendship.

Shanghai Center Theater
Based in the Shanghai Center Building (a village like complex with three dramatically rising towers), Shanghai Center Theater is a favorite venue for tourist to experience Shanghai nightlife. This theater is one of the most attractive ones for foreigners. From its modern luxurious auditorium you can enjoy varied quality performances from jazz music concert to acrobatics. Inventive acts are almost nightly given included plate-spinning, tightrope walking, clown show and magic.
Shows are held most nights at 7:30pm with some seasonal variation.

Shanghai Grand Stage (Shanghai Gymnasium )
Shanghai Grand Stage was from the rebuilt of the Shanghai Gymnasium. The whole building is in the olive shape with two stories. This stage is situated in the south west part of Shanghai in Xuhui district and opposite the first foreign-managed luxury hotel (Hua Ting Hotel & Tower in Shanghai). Shanghai Grand Stage still keeps the gymnasium functions. There is a super large ice stadium where a brand of ice dancers made up by 20 world dancing champions (“Team of Dream” ice dancers) once performed charming dance. It also served the World Table Tennis Championship in 2005. This multi function gymnasium is the first theater-style gymnasium in domestic. This building it is a landmark boasting both sightseeing and entertainments. Seats were priced from 280 to 1880 RMB. Put your recreation over there is a wonderful decision.

Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center
It is a newly built theater in year 1995. Housing two spacious rehearsal halls this is the best venue to watch drama and perform drama in Shanghai. At the same time its elegant ambience provides people a nice sociality place. As one of the Endsville showplace of Shanghai the living theatre field is very famous especially among stage art loved audience. A great hall outside the playhouse is an ideal filed for holding new issuing meetings and cocktail parties. Shanghai Concert Hall
Shanghai Concert Hall was built in 1930 and once named Nanking Theater (Nanjing Da Xiyuan). It is the earliest concert hall in China and designed by Chinese architects in the classic European style.
