Lhasa Yutuo Road (Pedestrian Street)
Yutuo Road nowadays becomes into a brand new pedestrian street in Lhasa. Yutuo Road is the first road with asphaltum road surface in Lhasa and it is one of the busiest streets in Lhasa. Yutuo Road with one end connected to Potala Palace Square and another end stretched to Jokhang Square is the window of Lhasa City. This road gathering three biggest malls of Lhasa: Lhasa Department Store, Lhasa Jinggu Marketplace and Lhasa International Trade Building. Deji Road North is a food street in Lhasa. There are so many restaurants and catering stores in this road, that people can eat from the beginning to end. Lhasa Tianhai Night Market
Tianhai Night Market is the most famous night market in Minzu Road, western suburb area of Lhasa. It is also the busiest and most popular night market in Lhasa. Its business time lasts till 05:00 next day morning. There are all kinds of products and snacks. This night market is a nice one for midnight food. Tianhai Night Market is the replacement of the Youth Night Market. This market is also dotted with stalls or booths selling fruits, snacks and local handicrafts. As the prices in Tianhai Night Market are cheaper than that of the Barkhor Street Market, if only for shopping, you would better choose Tianhai Night Market. But Barkhor Night Market is a place better for viewing the Tibetan culture.

Lhasa Ghee (Butter) Sculpture and Lantern Festival
In Tibetan calendar, on the 15th day of the first moon, Tibetan people will make multi-colored ghee sculptures to display out and light the lanterns. Butter is sculptured into all kinds of things with Tibetan paints such as flowers, characters, animals and so on. Many sculptures are composed of several pictures which tell people stories and antiquity legends. Tibetan Ghee Sculpture and Lantern Festival started from Ming Dynasty, in year 1409, and created by Buddhism. At night of the Lantern Festival, there will be colorful ghee (butter) sculptures and lanterns displayed all around the Lhasa Barkhor Street. People crowd and play in Barkhor Street at that night. There are also puppetry performances at night. After lighting the lanterns, the street is sprinkled by numerous stars and is resplendence. The Lantern Festival is the busiest and happiest festival in Lhasa.
