Each of them measures about 6 cm in length at most. Though the awetoes are little in size, they are very costly. Aweto in Chinese is called Dongchongxiacao which means to be a worm in winter and to be herb in summer. Avetoe has unique life cycles, the worm come from fungus that spends the whole life cycle living off one host-a moth. So the aweto live with the moths underground in winter, then they break though the soil in the early summer. Other Costful Herbs of Jiuzhaigou
Jiuzhaigou is a plant kingdom. The medicinal materials are varied such as Hou Pu, Du Zhong, Himalayan mayapple, caragana, cuckoopint, silverberry, bezoar and toadstool, etc. Hou Pu is the cortex of magnolia officinal. It is also the threatened extinction pant species of China. Hou Pu having bitter taste and the cortex is hyoscine. Du Zhong (to chung in Cantonese) has sweet, slightly acrid and warm characteristics. Caragana is a genus of plant having even-pinnate leaves and mostly yellow flowers followed by seeds in a linear pod. Caragana roots and flowers have medicine value. Dangshen is a perennial grass with long and round roots for pharmaceutical use. Toadstool grows in Jiuzhaigou of Sichuan Province is edible. It is not only a delicious agaric but also a choiceness Chinese herb.
