Jiuhua Mountain stands at 1342 meters and is famous for its rich landscape and ancient temples with current 50 temples. However there were more than 200 temples graced the slopes of this mountain. As one of the four sacred mountains of Chinese Buddhism, Jiuhua Mountain is the place to hold rites for Ksitigarbha (Dizang), who is a bodhisattva and protector of souls in hell according to Mahayana Buddhist Tradition.
There are 99 peaks in this scenic spot, among them Shiwang Peak, Lotus Peak and other nine ones are the most beautiful. Tiantai Peak is the main peak of Jiuhua Shan stands at more than 1300 meters. From Jiuhua Street heading to Tiantai, there are about 7.5-kilometer-mountain path and there are lots of views all along the path. When you arrive at the top of Tiantai and have seen the view in the far distance, even if you are breathing heavily, your mind will be opened and the tiredness disappeared suddenly.
Mt. Jiuhua Scenic Spot having charming and gentle scenes and delightful climate is an ideal summer resort. Climbing Mount Jiuhua, you should firstly go to Jiuhua Street (stands at above 600 meters), which is the center of Mt. Jiuhua Scenic Spot. Major temples are in centralized here. It is also the starting point of mountain touring.
