Hangzhou located in Yangtze River Delta Area of China is 180 kilometers southwest of Shanghai. Hangzhou as the capital of Zhejiang Sheng (province) is also the economic, politic and cultural center of Zhejiang.

Hangzhou is not only the third most important cities in Yangtze River Delta, but also it is well known for its beautiful scenery and historical and cultural heritages. It was one of the eight ancient capitals of China (the others were Beijing, Xian, Nanjing, Luoyang, Zhenzhou, Kaifen and Anyang).

It was notable in the past for being an ancient center of culture; it has also gained a well-deserved reputation as a tourist mecca in modern times. Numerous tourists have been flocked to Hangzhou to taste local specialties and take a boat ride on the well known West Lake (Xihu), and as well partake of the famous Hangzhou Longjing Cha (Dragon Well Tea) and visit the famed sites like Ling Yin Temple. Hangzhou and its West Lake (Xi Hu, in Chinese) have been immortalized by countless poets and artists. There are many famous sayings in China to describe this beautiful city: “Up above there is heaven; down below there are Suzhou and Hangzhou.” “Be born in Suzhou, live in Hangzhou, eat in Guangzhou, and die in Liuzhou.” These sayings suggest Hangzhou is a peaceful place with natural beauty and scenery and is very suitable for settling down.
