Guilin has a humid subtropical monsoon climate. Having mildness climate and flush rain fall it experiences four distinct seasons (spring, summer, autumn and winter). With little snow in winter and many flowers all over every season, Guilin is a nice city for traveling. Its annual average temperature is about 19°C; the hottest months are July and Autumn with average temperature of 28.5°C to 30°C. General non-frost is 309 days and the coldest months are January and February with average temperature of about 8.3°C.
Spring is the coldest season in Guilin. Sunny days are the main part of Guilin Spring. When the northern China is still covered by snow, Guilin has entered into an active spring world with blossom flowers and green trees. Some times there are continuously spring rain fall with bise, so you would better bring with rain coat or dust coat and raingears.
Summer is the rainy season in Guilin. Rainfall will centralize in several months of April, May, June and July. Guilin landscape is particularly charming under rain and frog. The “Misty Rain of Li River' is world famous. Without the appreciating of Li River Misty Rain is a great regretful thing. In summer the bamboo along Li River two sides are flourished.
Autumn is the peak tour time in Guilin. Clear sky and cool wind is the symbol of Guilin Autumn. It is also the best to watch hills reflections in water. As river water is lucid and clean, that tourists can clearly see the river bottom world. In early winter (October), average temperature is about 20°C; it is the right time for blossom of Guilin city flower, sweet osmanthus flower. All kinds of osmanthus flowers are spilled on trees; the entire city is overflowing fragrant. Guilin is a flower city in autumn.
Winter of Guilin is a season with little snow (it is hart to see snow fall).If you want to enjoy snow, you can get to mountains such as Mao Er Shan (Cat Mountain) in Xing'an County and Rao Mountain on the edge of city.
The best time to Guilin is from April to October.
