Museum of the Western Han Dynasty Mausoleum of the Nanyue King is the witness of Guangzhou history of over 2000 years. The mausoleum of the Nanyue King locates in Xianggangshan Mountain, which is the branch range of Yuexiu Mountain. This museum built on Xianggang Mountain was opened to public in 8th, February of 1988. Museum of the Western Han Dynasty Mausoleum of the Nanyue King is centered with tumulus and integrates the landform (steep slope and hummock) skillfully. Covering an area of 14000 square meters, this museum of mausoleum is generally divided into great thee parts-Comprehensive Building, Main Exhibition Building and Mausoleum of the Nanyue King. The Museum of the Western Han Dynasty Mausoleum of the Nanyue King shows originality in all formation, decoration and materials adopting. Red sandstone is the feature of walls of exhibition halls and stone chamber of the mausoleum.

The owner of this mausoleum is the second king (?- BC 122) Nanyue Kingdom of Western Han Dynasty (BC 206-AD 24), named Zhao Mei. King Zhao Mei was native-born in Guangdong and died in year BC 206. He was buried in the deeply heart of Xianggangshan Mountain, Guangzhou. The mausoleum of Nanyue King hidden 20 meters underground is made up pf 750 huge stones with colorful murals. It is found there were 15 persons who were buried alive with the dead and more than 10000 pieces of costful funerary objects, major are jade articles and bronze wares.
