It is known in the West as Canton,the capital city of Guangdong Province. Situated at the north of the Pearl River delta, it is an important trading center as well as a busy port and the capital city of the province of Guandong. The city has an area of over 16,000 square kilometers and a population of 6.7 million. Guangzhou is a beautiful city with an ever-green scenery and flowers blooming all the year round. The city boasts many tourist attractions, among which highlights are White Cloud Hill Scenic Spot. Yuexiu Park, Guangzhou Zoo, Six Banyan Temple and Flowery Pagoda, Dr. Sun Yatsen Memorial Hall.
Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall
Dr. Sun Yat Sen is the great forerunner of the Chinese revolution. He is the first president of the Republic. All over China and even in many foreign conutries, you can find memorials of Sun Yat-sen. Guangzhou"s Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is one of the most impressive one.
Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family
The Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family is situated at 7 Zhongshan Road in Guangzhou. It was first built in 1890 at the end of the 19th century, Chen families living in Guangdong province raised the money to build the temple for the worship of their ancestors.
Yuexiu Park
The park was first constructed in 1952 and comprises of many lakes, pagodas and pavilions. The park has three main parts which attract people for sightseeing. The first attractionis the Sculpture of Five Rams.
Temple of the Six Banyan Trees ( Liurong temple )
Liurong Temple literally means Temple of the Six Banyan Trees in Chinese. It was first built in 537 A.D. Now it is a famous Buddhist site in Guangzhou.
Guangzhou Pearl River Cruising
Evening cruising on the Pearl River ( Zhujiang ) is a must for sightseeing in Guangzhou. The tour toute for the river cruise starts from the White Goose Pool to Guangzhou Bridge in the east and Baihedong in the south.
